- Growing up in the midwest, my view of the world was pretty limited. Every year my family took a one week auto trip to the East Coast to visit relatives. The one exception was the summer after I had completed the ninth grade. That year, my family piled into our car and headed west, traveling through Iowa, Missouri,Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas,New Mexico, Arizona and on into Southern California. Among other things,we saw the Grand Canyon, some of the Navajo and Hopi Indian reservations, Death Valley, the beach at LaJolla, and Disneyland. We also took a day trip to Tijuana, Mexico. That three- week trip really opened my eyes to the big world outside of my home town. It also stirred up in me a desire to travel. Now, years later, I've been able to visit nearly all of the United States, as well as many other parts of world. In fact, I once went completely around the world in thirteen days (I don't recommend it). I've been to some really great places, and I'll share some of my trips with you.
